The revive of Chon Coffee – A misson of tears and sweats.

For years, he had to go through sleepless nights and exhaustion to learn how to look after the civets, looking for available sorts of food for them, finding ways to treat their strange illnesses, learning their mating and reproduction habits..

And then it came another difficult part of the work: how to make keeping them legal.

It took him years with heaps of paperwork and lot of patience to persuade all the different authorities of their honesty and good business practice.

In fact, without their steady commitment and passion, that simple mission would have probably been scrapped halfway.

We have two civet farms: one in Buon Ma Thuot and another in Lac Duong District in vicinity of Da Lat.

Our civets are either Asian Palm Civet ( Paradoxurus hermaphroditus ) or Masked Palm Civet (Paguma larvata) – both are classified as Least Concern by the IUCN in 2008.

Some of our civet cats were initially bought from restaurants and most of them is the result of natural reproduction. They are all legally registered with the local goverment’s body of authority.

Our civets are kept in a semi- natural habitat, which a large fenced farm with trees, plants, and caves similar to civet’s natural habitat.

Cages are only used for sick, mother and new born civets for special care, or for healthy civets for coffee production in coffee harvest.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh & his brother Nguyen Giang Nam started the farm with their first 3 civets.
